'Ada Girl.... MARIA ELENA!

Comments from her mother:

"Maria's talents:
Maria Elena has been a very entertaining and fulfiling child to raise. Since the time she could hold a marker in her hand, she scribbled on the bathroom walls, paper and anything else that she could find. Despite a transcontinental move, she has managed to keep that sparkle in her eye and a pen in her hand. I remember receiving her first poems and drawings in the mail, when she was still living in Colombia. In the US, since she couldn't speak English, she resorted to books and art to express herself, ending in a lifelong passion. After learning English, she has continued her drawing and poetry, even winning the English award in 8th and 9th grade. Maria Elena now speaks four languages. Her artwork has been showcased at the Trussviille Board of Education for two years. Both her poems and drawings have also been featured in TeenInk magazine online and been published in an anthology. She hopes to become a neuroscientist. "

Maria's advice for teens:
"Our teenage years are an cruciall time for developing habits that may lead to productive, successful and happy adults. I believe it is important to remember that every decision we make during this time, will affect our lives for years to come. Although we are at a time when we begin socializing and develop life-long friends, it is essential to know yourself. Find out your dreams, your goals and your expectations. Make every choice relevant to your goal and purposeful. It may not be a golden path, some may want something else for you, or even not believe in you, but remember that grit, not smarts or talent, is the fundamental ingredient to success."

Maria,
I am so proud of you for all you have accomplished and how you strive for success.  It is an honor to have you in our group.

God Bless You,

Billie Glazier, Administrator
